Quick update from Alaska - it will be quick because internet access costs 75c per minute. (Yet another way that the cruise ship makes up for all the free food by nickel and diming you for EVERYTHING else - it kinda sucks, actually)
Anyway, aside from the way money is blowing out the door, Alaska itself is beautiful. We are in Juneau today and went whale watching this morning and then this afternoon flew in a helicopter to hike on a glacier. Very stunning and very un-Houston.
As far as the gambling, I was rather disappointed to see that there is no poker at all on the boat. I figured that with the casino there would at least be a poker tournament or two, especially on the days at sea, but nothing but slot machines and table games. I have only played blackjack once so far on the trip and am down about $100 in a very painful 30 minute span where I won exactly 2 hands. Those results are skewed so far to the left that I expect if I go back I should get a little bit of it back, by definition.
So that's it. We'll be back on Sunday night and I'll have more football pool information on Monday morning.
(Oh yeah, I'm also married now... this is my honeymoon. I can't believe how stressed out I was before the trip and how much I've noticed myself relaxing since. Honeymoons come highly recommended - heh heh)
Random thoughts from a lawyer, an accountant, a commodities trader, an ex-Marine and a WSOP Main Event money finisher that don't know as much as they wish they did...
