We had an excellent pot limit Omaha 8 game last night in the garage. Yeah, the 50c/$1.00 stakes and the starting $40 buy in are both pretty light, but that just lets everyone get warmed up before the real game starts and we start playing it more like $1/3 or even $2/5.
I realize that a lot of people in this readership and on my distribution prefer to play holdem and thus were locked out of the game last night, but my plan now that the cooler weather is upon us is to play Omaha once a month and holdem once a month, so you will get your chance. In fact, we'll probably play holdem in two weeks on November 15. If you haev my secret email address send one over to me and I'll put you at the top of the list for that game.
In the meantime, if you still don't play Omaha 8 I recommend that you learn. It's a great game with something for everyone: lots of action and lots of thinking and opportunities to fold. The general consensus around the table last night, and I would say that we had an above average sample of poker playing talent, is that it's a much better and more fun game than holdem. Obviously, I agree.
