On a similar topic, will someone please explain to me the frenzy behind Guitar Hero III? I have friends that are junkies, and I keep hearing about all the buzz.
I saw a demo in Best Buy the other day, and it pretty much looked like the shittiest game ever made. I don't think I could play it for more than 30 seconds before getting bored. Am I missing something???
It actually is a rather challenging game and I've had fun the handful of times I have played it. That said, I kind of have a fundamental opposition to it - read, I wouldn't buy it for myself or let my kid play it - because I think it's more edifying and impressive to learn how to play the real thing. I am an amateur guitar player at best, but I would much rather play the real thing than a replica thereof. Kind of like playing Doom and actually running around shooting zombies for real, except that playing a guitar for real is probably a more socially acceptable replica.
